編集体制/Editorial Board

STAM offers a unique range of benefits to its authors and readers:

  • FREE to read - ensuring that your research is available to the global scientific community.
  • High impact factor 4.787 - According to Thomson Reuters, STAM now ranks 51st out of 285 journals in the category of Materials Science & Multidisciplinary worldwide, and is ranked 1st among materials science journals in Japan. This impressive increase clearly demonstrates the importance of STAM to the materials science community worldwide.
  • Rapid publication - from submission to online publication in weeks.
  • Language and style correction for the accepted papers - ensuring the quality of your presentation.
  • No page limits. However, shorter papers are encouraged as they enjoy faster refereeing and publishing.
  • FREE use of color illustrations and supplementary content (e.g. multimedia files) in the online edition.
  • Printed issues are distributed free of charge at major international conferences, helping to popularize your results.
  • Authors retain their copyright. For details.

投稿論文の査読プロセス/Peer Review Processing

This is a summary of the procedure followed for processing all manuscripts submitted to Science and Technology of Advanced Materials (STAM).

  • Type of papers: Regular paper, Review paper
  • Language: English
  • Web submission

Step 1: Prescreening

One of the most important criteria of STAM is "Whether the work represents important and influential contribution to readers in materials science". Authors are notified within 10 days by a Review Editor if their submission meets the criteria and contains major technical problems including:

  1. Formatting of the article significantly deviates from the STAM author guidelines (see “How to prepare your manuscripts” for details)
  2. Both review and regular articles contains significant duplication or reproduction of text and/or figures from prior publications.
  3. The standard of English may not be understood by reviewers.
  4. The subject area covered by the manuscript is not suitable for STAM.
  5. The reference list (both review and regular articles) does not accurately reflect and cover the subject matter addressed by the manuscript.
  6. The appropriate copyright permission forms for reproducing material copied from other publications have not been provided with the submission.

Authors will receive a receipt of submission after the prescreening. In cases where manuscripts do not meet the aforementioned criteria, the authors can re-submit them after the appropriate revisions.

Step 2: Review by handling editors

A criterion of the STAM peer review is followed by "Whether the work represents new scientific finding". The handling editor assigns multiple experts in the fields as referees, and informs authors their report, by email via the web submission system.

The authors should submit revised manuscripts within three months of receiving reports from referees. Importantly, the revised manuscripts should also include clear replies to comments made by referees, explaining any changes made to the original manuscript. Authors can check the status of their manuscripts by accessing the web submission system.

Step 3: Final decision by the Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief will notify authors about the final decision regarding their manuscript by email via the web submission system. In cases when manuscripts are rejected, authors can appeal the decision only once, and should do so within three months after receiving the final decision.

For materials scientists and engineers interested in the structure, properties, processing and applications of advanced engineering materials.
